Soft Wash in Newton Abbot
Low-pressure biocide treatment for any exterior surface that can't take a jet wash. We work all over Newton Abbot and the surrounding Devon area — Wolborough, Highweek, Milber and the towns between.

The Moore & Franks approach in Newton Abbot
Newton Abbot spreads across a damp river valley, and that low-lying setting shows on the walls. Plenty of rendered semis around Highweek and Decoy, painted terraces near the town centre, all of them prone to that grey-green film and dark staining where the air sits still. Pressure washing render in a spot this damp tends to open it up to more moisture, not less. Our soft wash treatment works the other way: a low-pressure biocide that kills algae and lichen at the root and slows its return. We cover Newton Abbot and the surrounding villages from Exeter, quote up front, and back every job with £5m public liability.
Milber and Buckland are full of post-war rendered semis, and they are where a lot of our Newton Abbot soft washing happens. That mid-century render is porous and sits on north-facing gables that see little sun down here in the Teign valley, so it draws in damp and greens over steadily. We treat the whole elevation at low pressure, lifting the algae out of the surface rather than blasting it, which keeps the render intact and the colour even.
Cool, damp air pools in the bottom of the valley, and the heavy tree cover around Decoy, Bradley and the Stover side keeps whole streets in shade well into the day. Walls that never properly dry are a gift to algae and lichen, and no amount of scrubbing keeps it away for long. A root-level treatment reaches the growth in the pores and slows how fast it comes back, which matters more here than in the drier towns along the coast.
Nearer the centre, around Courtenay Street and the old station, the Victorian terraces carry original render and paintwork that a jet wash would take the face off. These older frontages want a gentle approach, and soft washing gives it, working the biocide into the surface at low pressure so the growth dies back without any water driven behind the render. It is the safe way to freshen tired TQ12 stock without opening it up to more moisture.
Our Newton Abbot customers are typically within 30 minutes of our Exeter base. We cover the wider TQ12 postcode area and the surrounding villages (Wolborough, Highweek, Milber, Kingsteignton, Decoy Country Park, Bradley Manor).
A clear, repeatable process.
No surprises, no upsells. The same method every job — that's how you get the same result every time.

Frequently asked questions
Quick answers to the questions we get asked the most. If yours isn't here, drop us a line — we reply same day.
There is no set rate, because a small rendered porch is nothing like a full three-bed semi frontage. We come out, measure the elevation, note the access and the state of the growth, then give you one fixed written price. The site visit and the quote are both free, with no obligation to go ahead.
The whole town and its edges, all of TQ12. We soft wash regularly across Wolborough, Highweek, Milber and Buckland, out towards Decoy and Mile End, and over to Kingsteignton. If you are near Bradley or on the newer estates climbing out of the valley, we can reach you without trouble.
It is the right choice for exactly these conditions. Valley damp keeps render wet and pressure washing only forces more water in, whereas a low-pressure biocide kills the growth without soaking the wall. On shaded north-facing gables in Highweek or Milber, that difference is what makes a clean actually last.
Give us a call or send a message and we will book a time to come and look, normally within a couple of days. Every enquiry gets a same-day reply. We work Monday to Friday and you deal directly with the two of us, father and son, from first look to finished job.
