Paving Sealing across Devon
Once a block-paved driveway or patio has been cleaned, sealing it is what makes the result last. A good sealant stabilises the jointing sand, slows down weed and moss regrowth, deepens the colour of the blocks and makes the surface far easier to keep clean. We seal after cleaning, never before — the surface has to be properly clean and dry first.

The Moore & Franks approach
We use the right sealant for the job. A matt finish keeps a natural look; a wet-look sealant lifts the colour and gives block paving that just-laid richness. Either way the sealant binds the kiln-dried sand in the joints so it doesn't wash out, which is what lets weeds and ants get a foothold in the first place.
It's a two-stage job and we're straight about that — the paving is cleaned and left to dry properly, then the sealant goes on in even coats once we're sure there's no trapped moisture. Sealed paving sheds oil, spills and dirt far more easily, so the annual clean is a quick rinse rather than a full wash. We'll talk you through matt versus wet-look on the quote so you get the finish you actually want.
A clear, repeatable process.
No surprises, no upsells. The same method every job — that's how you get the same result every time.
- 01
Clean first
The paving is fully pressure-washed and any weeds removed — sealant only goes onto a properly clean surface.
- 02
Dry out
We let the blocks and joints dry through — trapped moisture is the main reason a seal fails, so we don't rush this.
- 03
Re-sand joints
Kiln-dried sand brushed into the joints where needed so the sealant has something to bind.
- 04
Seal & finish
Even coats of matt or wet-look sealant applied across the surface, then left to cure before use.

Sealing binds the sand in the joints so it doesn't wash out — that's what keeps weeds and moss from coming back. It also protects the colour and makes the surface much easier to keep clean. It's the step that makes a clean driveway stay looking good.
Matt keeps a natural finish — you'd struggle to tell it's sealed. Wet-look deepens the colour and gives the blocks a richer, just-laid look. Both protect the same way; it's down to the finish you prefer, and we'll show you examples on the quote.
