Roof Cleaning across Devon
A clean roof is the single biggest difference you can make to a property's kerb appeal — and to its lifespan. We work on concrete, slate, clay and composite roofs across Devon, lifting decades of moss and biological growth without resorting to aggressive pressure that loosens tiles.

The Moore & Franks approach
Most roofs we visit have never been properly cleaned. Moss roots break the granular surface of concrete tiles, lichen pits slate, and algae traps moisture against the substrate. Left alone it shortens roof life and feeds gutters with the debris that causes overflows.
Our method starts with a careful scrape to remove the bulk of the moss, followed by a soft-wash treatment using a biocide that kills the spores at root level. We never use a turbo-nozzle pressure wash on a residential roof — it pushes water under the laps and shortens the very thing you're trying to protect.
Where appropriate we'll also apply a roof seal or biocide top-coat to slow re-growth. Every job ends with a full gutter clear-down so the debris we've shifted doesn't end up sat in your guttering.

Frequently asked questions
Quick answers to the questions we get asked the most. If yours isn't here, drop us a line — we reply same day.
Roof cleans start from £300 + VAT. The final price depends on the size of the roof, the level of biological growth, and access. We give you a fixed quote in writing before any work starts.
Yes — that's why we don't use high-pressure jet washing on residential roofs. We scrape by hand and apply a low-pressure soft-wash biocide. Aggressive pressure removes the granular surface of concrete tiles and shortens roof life.
Eventually some growth will return — it's airborne. A properly applied biocide slows re-growth significantly, typically 4–8 years before a full clean is needed again. North-facing or tree-shaded roofs re-grow fastest. If you'd rather it never got that far, our Roof Maintenance Plan tops up the treatment every 2–3 years and keeps growth from re-establishing at all.
No. We work entirely outside the property and only need water access if a tap is nearby — otherwise we bring our own.
Most domestic roofs are completed in a single day. Larger properties or heavy growth may run to two days.
Yes — solar panel cleaning starts from £7 + VAT per panel and is a natural add-on when we're already on site.
