Brixham's a working fishing port, and its houses climb steeply up around the harbour in tight, colourful rows that catch the full force of the sea. Salt spray and Channel storms keep these roofs permanently damp, and moss and algae take hold quickly on the exposed slopes. The sea fret rolling off Berry Head keeps slate and concrete tile damp for long spells, so black lichen and moss get a firm hold on the steeper roofs.

We keep pressure off the fragile older slate, using superheated steam where a roof needs it. Given how quickly Brixham's exposed roofs re-grow, a biocide top-coat earns its place.
