DOFF Chemical Cleaning across Devon
DOFF is a Stonehealth-manufactured low-pressure steam system used by heritage specialists across the UK. It cleans masonry, render and historic stone with super-heated water at low pressure — gentle on the substrate, lethal to biological growth, dry in minutes.

The Moore & Franks approach
We're trained operators of the DOFF system and use it as our default on anything pre-war, listed, or where conservation officers are involved. The combination of temperature (up to 150°C at the surface) and low pressure removes paint, biological growth, bitumen and atmospheric soot without damaging the underlying stone.
It's our go-to for cathedrals, churches, listed cottages, heritage shopfronts and any property where 'soft wash' isn't conservative enough. The surface dries within minutes — so no prolonged dampness in old fabric.
A clear, repeatable process.
No surprises, no upsells. The same method every job — that's how you get the same result every time.

Frequently asked questions
Quick answers to the questions we get asked the most. If yours isn't here, drop us a line — we reply same day.
Yes — it's specifically designed for heritage and listed property work. We can liaise with your conservation officer and provide method statements as part of the quote.
DOFF uses temperature, not pressure. Output is around 1.5 bar at the nozzle — about a tenth of a domestic pressure washer — but the water is super-heated. The result is gentle on stone but lethal to algae, paint and bitumen.
