The Moore & Franks approach in Exmouth

Exmouth's family estates — Brixington, Littleham, Withycombe and the newer builds around Liverton and Dinan Way — are full of the compact, low-maintenance gardens that artificial grass suits, and plenty of second homes and holiday lets near the seafront have gone the same way. But the humid estuary air greens up the pile on shaded plots, windblown sand and leaf litter work down into the backing, and dog-owning households find pet odour builds in the warmer months. We clear the moss and debris, power-brush the fibres back up, re-tuck any edges the coastal damp has lifted, and treat pet areas with a child- and pet-safe deodoriser. A local team who know how the coast treats a garden.

Right on the front — the gardens along Queen's Drive, around The Maer and up toward the Marina — an artificial lawn deals with something inland plots never see: fine beach sand carried on the wind. It behaves nothing like the sold-in infill; it packs hard into the pile, holds salt and moisture against the fibres, and grinds at them underfoot. Clearing that windblown grit back out is a big part of why a seafront lawn here wants a firmer, more thorough brush than one a mile inland.

Plenty of Exmouth's laid turf is not at ground level at all. The seafront and Marina apartments have balcony and roof-terrace runs of artificial grass for the view, and those catch salt spray and gull mess with nothing to shelter them. Up there the pile bleaches and greens on the shaded side of a parapet while staying bone-dry elsewhere, so it wants a gentler, even clean rather than the heavy de-moss a shaded ground-level lawn needs.

Because the salt air keeps everything that bit damper, Exmouth lawns tend to want cleaning more often than the once-a-year that suits a sheltered inland garden — twice a year is common on the exposed plots that catch the prevailing south-westerly off Lyme Bay. A plain wash with fresh water now and then between our visits helps as well, taking the salt off the pile before it draws moisture back in and gives the algae a head start.

Our Exmouth customers are typically within 25 minutes of our Exeter base. We cover the wider EX8 postcode area and the surrounding villages (The Beacon, Littleham, Withycombe Raleigh, Brixington, Exmouth Seafront & Marina, Lympstone).

How it works

A clear, repeatable process.

No surprises, no upsells. The same method every job — that's how you get the same result every time.

  1. 01

    Survey & quote

We look at the size, age and condition of the lawn, check the drainage and pet use, then quote a fixed price — free and no-obligation.

  2. 02

    Debris clear & de-moss

Leaves, moss, algae and ground-in dirt are cleared from the pile and surface so water drains freely again.

  3. 03

    Brush & restore

The pile is power-brushed to lift the fibres, and lifted edges, seams and perimeter weeds are dealt with.

  4. 04

    Sanitise & deodorise

Where pets use the lawn, a child- and pet-safe treatment neutralises odour at source rather than masking it.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to the questions we get asked the most. If yours isn't here, drop us a line — we reply same day.

We quote every lawn free after a look rather than working to a set rate. Size and condition drive most of it, but on the salt-exposed seafront plots there is usually more windblown grit and algae to shift, which can add a little to the job compared with a sheltered garden the same size.

Yes — all of EX8, from The Beacon and the seafront out through Littleham, Withycombe Raleigh and Brixington, and up the estuary to Lympstone. We are a short run down from Topsham, so getting to you for a survey is straightforward.

Yes, and it is common on the Exmouth seafront. We work off the surface with light tools and a gentle brush up there rather than anything heavy, clearing salt film, gull mess and algae without loading the deck or forcing water where it should not go.

Not far ahead at all. Message us your postcode or a couple of photos and we will get back to you the same day. We are out Monday to Friday, and most Exmouth gardens are done in one visit, with the odd heavily-mossed lawn needing a return.
