The Moore & Franks approach in Newton Abbot
Newton Abbot is a busy market town where heavy use shows quickly: racecourse traffic, the weekly markets and rows of terraced housing all mean hard-working driveways and forecourts. The town sits in the Teign valley, low and sheltered, so damp lingers and surfaces green over through the cooler months. Whether it's a tired concrete drive, a moss-bound patio or a commercial frontage that needs to look the part, Moore & Franks bring the right kit and the experience to do it cleanly. We're a Devon family firm, 25 years strong and insured to £5m, working all across the Teignbridge area. Solid, no-nonsense work and a surface that looks years younger.
Milber and Buckland's post-war semis were mostly laid with plain concrete drives and paths, and after decades in the damp Teign valley those grey slabs and aprons hold moss in every crack. This is bread-and-butter work for us: lifting years of green off concrete, edging out the weeds between the joints, and leaving a drive that looks a generation younger. We cover the newer block-paved estates climbing Mile End and Decoy just the same, re-sanding the joints once the paving is clean.
Closer to the centre, the Victorian terraces around Wolborough and Highweek have narrow tiled paths, brick yards and stone steps that were never built for a pressure washer. On those we ease off, or soft wash, to shift the growth without lifting the old surface. Astroturf and decking feature heavily in the smaller town gardens here as well, and both want a careful, low-pressure approach: the turf brushed through and deodorised, the timber cleaned along the grain rather than across it.
The valley setting is what makes the work recur. Cool, damp air off the estuary and the wooded slopes around Kingsteignton keeps north-facing paths shaded and slow to dry, so algae is back within a season if nothing is done. That is where an optional biocide top-coat earns its keep, slowing the regrowth after a clean. We work Monday to Friday across Teignbridge, give a free no-obligation quote, and get back to you the same day you ask.
Our Newton Abbot customers are typically within 30 minutes of our Exeter base. We cover the wider TQ12 postcode area and the surrounding villages (Wolborough, Highweek, Milber, Kingsteignton, Decoy Country Park, Bradley Manor).

Frequently asked questions
Quick answers to the questions we get asked the most. If yours isn't here, drop us a line — we reply same day.
The starting price is £80 + VAT. Around here the biggest cost factor is size: the long concrete drives and shared paths common on the Milber and Buckland estates cover more ground than a small town-centre yard, so they take longer. We measure up and give a fixed written quote before any work begins.
All of TQ12, including Wolborough, Highweek, Milber and the newer estates at Mile End and Decoy, plus out to Kingsteignton and the villages beyond. We regularly clean drives, patios and paths right across the town and the surrounding Teignbridge lanes.
Yes. Streaking usually comes from an uneven, rushed pass with too narrow a nozzle. We work methodically across concrete at a steady overlap so the finish comes up even, and on older or delicate stone we drop the pressure or soft wash instead to avoid pitting.
Message us with a rough idea of the area and a photo, and we will send a free written quote, normally the same day. Visits run on weekdays, eight to five, and we will agree a date that suits you.
