The Moore & Franks approach in Newton Abbot
Newton Abbot's solar boom has tracked its housing growth, with arrays going up across the estates at Wolborough and Highweek as well as older town-centre terraces. Sitting in the Teign valley, the town traps damp air that leaves panels prone to algae and a stubborn organic film, while nearby farmland adds dust and pollen to the mix. We're a family-run Devon outfit and we treat each roof on its merits: purified water, soft brushing, no abrasive pads or chemicals that could void your warranty. Working from the ground with reach-and-wash poles, we get the glass spotless and your output back up, with no risk to your tiles or your panels.
Shade is the enemy of a solar panel, and Newton Abbot sits under plenty of it. The mature trees around Decoy, Bradley and the Stover side keep whole roofs in dappled light, so any array beneath them is already losing yield before dirt is even in the picture. When a green film then settles on top of that, the two losses stack. Clearing the glass at least gives the panels the best of what daylight does reach them.
Access varies a lot across town. The tight Victorian terraces near the old station carry their panels up two storeys behind shared valley gutters, while the render estates out at Mile End and Milber sit lower and more open. Our ground-fed poles handle both without anyone setting foot on a tile, which matters most on the older clay roofs where a cracked tile is an expensive afternoon.
Autumn is the tricky stretch here. Leaf fall off all that tree cover blankets north-facing arrays in Wolborough and Highweek and washes muck down onto the glass, so a clean in late autumn or early spring tends to give the best run into the sunnier months. If your gutters are choking at the same time, we can clear those from the ground on the same trip.
Our Newton Abbot customers are typically within 30 minutes of our Exeter base. We cover the wider TQ12 postcode area and the surrounding villages (Wolborough, Highweek, Milber, Kingsteignton, Decoy Country Park, Bradley Manor).

Frequently asked questions
Quick answers to the questions we get asked the most. If yours isn't here, drop us a line — we reply same day.
It is £7 + VAT per panel, with a free written quote first. Because so many arrays here sit under tree cover and pick up more organic muck, a first clean can be a little more involved, but the per-panel price does not change for it.
Right across the TQ12 area, taking in Wolborough, Highweek, Milber and Buckland, out to Kingsteignton and the estates around Decoy. Bradley Manor and the wooded valleys on that side are all within our regular round from Topsham.
Yes. We never walk on the roof, so brittle Victorian clay tiles stay undisturbed, and pure water with a soft brush lifts moss and algae off the panels without any scraping or pressure. It is the gentlest way to clean glass on a fragile roof.
