Higher Brixham and the Wall Park and Sharkham estates sit on exposed, breezy ground above the harbour, and their newer block and imprinted-concrete drives take the full weight of the onshore wind off the Channel. Salt and grit blow in, work into the surface and hold a fine grey film that darkens the paving, while the joints green over on the shaded sides. We clean it all back, dig out the weeds and re-sand the block so it locks tight and looks freshly laid again.

Down in the tightly-stacked terraces around the harbour and up Mount Pleasant Road, space is short and the surfaces are old: painted render, soft stone steps and small shared yards that share downpipes and rarely dry out. Here we drop the pressure right down or soft wash, lifting the coastal green without stripping paint or loosening old pointing, and plan visits around the tight parking. Careful, close work rather than brute force.

Out toward Churston and Galmpton the larger detached homes have mature trees that drop leaf and needle litter onto drives and patios, which rots into a slippery film in the sea-damp air. Growth returns fast on this exposed headland, so an optional biocide top-coat after cleaning is well worth it on north and east-facing surfaces.
