The Moore & Franks approach in Dawlish

Dawlish takes the weather full on, with the sea wall and the railway line famously exposed to spray that carries well inland on a southwesterly. The black-and-white cottages by the Brook, the seafront terraces and the newer estates up at Secmaton all collect a salty film that dulls glass within weeks. We get on top of it with pure water that rinses salt clean away, leaving frames and sills clear rather than crusted. Our cleaners reach upper windows safely from the ground, no ladders propped against tired render. A Devon family firm, twenty-five years on, insured to £5m and dependable round after round.

Nowhere we work re-dirties glass faster than the exposed side of Dawlish, so most homes here run a shorter round than the usual quarterly. Six to eight weeks is the sweet spot near the front: long enough to be worth the visit, short enough that the salt never really gets a grip. We book the whole cycle in ahead so it happens automatically, tighter through the winter blows and eased off across a calm summer spell.

The stretch toward Dawlish Warren is thick with holiday lets and beach boltholes, and their owners are usually miles away when the glass needs doing. We clean from outside, drop a message when a property is finished and bill remotely, which is what a busy changeover schedule needs. Sea view is the whole selling point of these places, so salted, hazy windows do them no favours with the next guests booking in.

Up on Barton Hill and around Holcombe the wooded slopes throw shade and leaf fall onto north-facing roofs, so conservatory glass there greens as much from damp as from salt. We rinse it clear off the pole at low pressure, priced from £50 + VAT for a small roof, more for a larger one, and clean any solar panels at £7 + VAT each in the same visit, since the coastal film costs you output as surely as it costs you the view.

Our Dawlish customers are typically within 25 minutes of our Exeter base. We cover the wider EX7 postcode area and the surrounding villages (Dawlish Warren, Dawlish Water (the Black Swans), Cockwood, Holcombe, Barton Hill, The Strand).

How it works

A clear, repeatable process.

No surprises, no upsells. The same method every job — that's how you get the same result every time.

  1. 01

    Survey & quote

Quick site visit or photos by email. We confirm window count, access, frame condition and any conservatory glass before quoting a fixed per-visit price.

  2. 02

    Pure water prep

Mains water filtered on the van through carbon, reverse-osmosis and resin stages to zero total-dissolved-solids — the only state in which water dries spot-free.

  3. 03

    Fed-pole clean

Carbon-fibre pole and brush head agitate the glass, frames, sills and door panels. Pure water rinses clear and dries to a streak-free finish.

  4. 04

    Conservatory & extras

Conservatory roof glass, polycarbonate and finials cleaned as a same-visit add-on where specified.

  5. 05

    Scheduled return

Recurring customers go straight onto a quarterly or monthly schedule — we come back automatically without booking calls.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to the questions we get asked the most. If yours isn't here, drop us a line — we reply same day.

A standard clean starts from £15 + VAT, frames, sills and doors included. Exposure is the real cost factor in Dawlish: seafront glass usually needs a shorter six to eight weekly cycle to stay ahead of the salt, and that regular visit is priced at a fixed rate each time rather than as a single call-out.

All of EX7, from The Strand and Dawlish Water up through Barton Hill to Holcombe and out to Cockwood and the Warren. Sea-facing or tucked up a wooded lane, it is all our regular ground and there is no extra charge for reaching you.

Yes. Deionised water dissolves the salt and carries it off the glass, where a cloth would only spread it into a haze. Nothing is left dissolved in the water, so it dries spotless. On Dawlish's most exposed frontages that is the only way to get glass that stays clear for more than a day or two.

Message us or send a couple of photos and you will have a written price the same day. We are out weekdays from eight until five, and once you are on the round the cleans arrive without you having to ring. The quote is free and you pay only once the work is finished.
