The Moore & Franks approach in Exmouth

Exmouth sits right on the estuary mouth, and that salt-laden sea air coats glass with a fine film that ordinary rinsing leaves behind. The seafront crescents and the Victorian villas up around the Maer take a battering off the wind, while the newer builds near the marina catch spray on a rough day. We clean it all properly. Our pure-water system lifts salt residue and leaves frames and sills spot-free rather than streaked. Being a Devon family firm, we know how quickly coastal glass dulls and we schedule rounds to suit. Fully insured to £5m, twenty-five years on the job.

Seafront holiday flats and second homes are a big part of what we look after in Exmouth. Along Queen's Drive and the streets behind the beach, a lot of the glass belongs to lets and boltholes whose owners live elsewhere, so they need someone reliable to keep it clear between changeovers. We work entirely from outside, send a message when a job is done and invoice remotely, which suits landlords and holiday-let managers who are rarely on site.

Because the town takes the weather straight off Lyme Bay, a lot of Exmouth customers move to a six to eight weekly round rather than the usual quarterly. Glass near the front picks up its film again within weeks, and a shorter interval keeps it genuinely clear instead of forever half-dull. We agree the frequency on the quote and you can stretch or tighten it through the year, more often over the winter storms, less through a settled spell.

Conservatory roofs and glass balconies are common on the newer waterside builds, and both take the brunt of salt and gull mess. The water-fed pole rinses them clear at low pressure with no ladder near the frame, priced by size, from £50 + VAT for a small roof up to £90 + VAT for a large one. If there are solar panels up top we clean those at £7 + VAT a panel in the same visit, since the salt flattens their output just as it dulls the windows.

Our Exmouth customers are typically within 25 minutes of our Exeter base. We cover the wider EX8 postcode area and the surrounding villages (The Beacon, Littleham, Withycombe Raleigh, Brixington, Exmouth Seafront & Marina, Lympstone).

How it works

A clear, repeatable process.

No surprises, no upsells. The same method every job — that's how you get the same result every time.

  1. 01

    Survey & quote

Quick site visit or photos by email. We confirm window count, access, frame condition and any conservatory glass before quoting a fixed per-visit price.

  2. 02

    Pure water prep

Mains water filtered on the van through carbon, reverse-osmosis and resin stages to zero total-dissolved-solids — the only state in which water dries spot-free.

  3. 03

    Fed-pole clean

Carbon-fibre pole and brush head agitate the glass, frames, sills and door panels. Pure water rinses clear and dries to a streak-free finish.

  4. 04

    Conservatory & extras

Conservatory roof glass, polycarbonate and finials cleaned as a same-visit add-on where specified.

  5. 05

    Scheduled return

Recurring customers go straight onto a quarterly or monthly schedule — we come back automatically without booking calls.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to the questions we get asked the most. If yours isn't here, drop us a line — we reply same day.

Cleans start at £15 + VAT with frames, sills and doors always included. The big cost factor in Exmouth is exposure: seafront properties often want a shorter six to eight weekly round to stay ahead of the salt, and that regular schedule is quoted at a fixed price per visit rather than a one-off rate.

Right across the town, from The Beacon and the seafront through Littleham, Withycombe Raleigh and Brixington, and out to Lympstone. It is all EX8 and all local to us, so wherever you are between the estuary and the Maer there is no extra charge for reaching you.

It does. Deionised water dissolves and rinses the salt away rather than smearing it around like a wet cloth would, and because nothing is left dissolved in it the glass dries clear with no spotting. On the exposed Withycombe and seafront elevations that is the only finish that actually lasts.

Get in touch by phone or the website and we come back the same day with a written price. Once you are happy we slot you into the local round, which runs through the town on a regular cycle. There is no charge for the quote and no obligation to go ahead.
