The Moore & Franks approach in Teignmouth

Teignmouth has two faces — the busy seafront with its Georgian and Victorian terraces, and the quieter river side looking across the Teign toward Shaldon. Both catch sea air, and the back beach properties take spray that leaves glass hazy in no time. We clean it the right way, using pure water to strip salt film so windows dry clear without spotting. Period sashes and bays are handled with care, frames and sills done alongside the glass. Being a Devon family firm we understand coastal upkeep and plan rounds around it. Twenty-five years' experience, fully insured to £5m, and a steady, friendly service.

Access is the trick to a lot of Teignmouth glass. The older streets behind the Triangle are tight and terraced, with tall houses set right on the pavement and nowhere sensible to stand a ladder. Working off the pole from ground level solves that, letting us reach three and four storeys of glass without blocking a narrow road or leaning anything on soft painted render. On the seafront terraces it also keeps us clear of the promenade traffic and parked cars.

The painted render so common on the older fronts means the window surrounds get as grubby as the glass, streaked with marine grime and salt. Every clean takes in the frames, sills and reveals, not just the panes, because leaving a green sill under a spotless window looks worse than not bothering. On uPVC and aluminium it is the same wash; on old timber it is gentle enough to spare tired paint and putty.

Set back toward Coombe Vale and Bishopsteignton, the wooded valleys drop leaf and seed onto conservatory roofs, and the marine damp keeps them greening year-round. We clear the roof glass and finials at low pressure off the pole, priced by size, anywhere from £50 + VAT to £90 + VAT. Panels get the same treatment at £7 + VAT each while we are set up, so a household can have windows, conservatory and solar all sorted in a single visit.

Our Teignmouth customers are typically within 25 minutes of our Exeter base. We cover the wider TQ14 postcode area and the surrounding villages (The Den & seafront, Shaldon Bridge, Teignmouth Pier, The Triangle, Bishopsteignton, Coombe Vale).

How it works

A clear, repeatable process.

No surprises, no upsells. The same method every job — that's how you get the same result every time.

  1. 01

    Survey & quote

Quick site visit or photos by email. We confirm window count, access, frame condition and any conservatory glass before quoting a fixed per-visit price.

  2. 02

    Pure water prep

Mains water filtered on the van through carbon, reverse-osmosis and resin stages to zero total-dissolved-solids — the only state in which water dries spot-free.

  3. 03

    Fed-pole clean

Carbon-fibre pole and brush head agitate the glass, frames, sills and door panels. Pure water rinses clear and dries to a streak-free finish.

  4. 04

    Conservatory & extras

Conservatory roof glass, polycarbonate and finials cleaned as a same-visit add-on where specified.

  5. 05

    Scheduled return

Recurring customers go straight onto a quarterly or monthly schedule — we come back automatically without booking calls.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to the questions we get asked the most. If yours isn't here, drop us a line — we reply same day.

Cleans begin at £15 + VAT with frames and sills always included. Access is what shifts the price in Teignmouth: a tall terraced house on a tight street behind the Triangle, or a big seafront property with a lot of glass, takes longer to reach and do than a modest semi, though everything is fixed in writing first.

The whole of TQ14, from the Den and the seafront through the Triangle and up the slopes to Bishopsteignton and Coombe Vale. Whether you look out over the estuary toward Shaldon or sit up on the hill, it is all local to us with no travel charge.

Yes. There is no blade and nothing harsh near the glazing; the soft brush and pure water simply loosen the grime and rinse it away. Slim glazing bars and old sashes dry clear because the water leaves nothing behind. On the period frontages by the Den it is far kinder than a cloth and squeegee.

Drop us a line by phone or the website form and we come back the same day with a fixed written price. We work Monday to Friday, eight until five, and once you are on the coastal round the visits look after themselves. There is no charge for the quote.
